Organisation

The Alasdair Gray Archive was established in March 2020 after Gray’s death in late December 2019. The Alasdair Gray Archive exists to enhance the reputation and understanding of one of Scotland’s most significant cultural polymaths of the 20th century, and through his legacy support young people and other individuals to fulfil their potential in the creative sector. One of the core aims is to foster, promote and develop education opportunities in relation to the work of Alasdair Gray via series of student placements.

Location

Unit 5.07, The Whisky Bond, 2 Dawson Road, Glasgow, G4 9SS

In person but some time could be spent offsite recording/visiting sites. Open to discussing hybrid working if better suited for the placement students needs.

Project

We are keen to help support you to deliver and shape your own archive-based project, examples include: 

  • A creative response to the collection
  • Hosting events
  • Delivering a workshop
  • Creating a podcast
  • Making digital content
  • New methods for evaluation
  • Researching and sharing in exciting new ways 

No prior knowledge or expertise needed just a willingness to explore, work as part of a team and collaborate!  Please outline in your application how you would envisage working with us.

Flexible - Ideally 1-2 days per week

Key Relationships

The student will work closely with Sorcha Dallas, Custodian of the Archive. However the student will work alongside other researchers and postgraduate/undergraduate student placements  so there is real opportunity for cross subject collaboration, knowledge exchange and peer to peer learning.
