Project

Archive, Heritage and Cultural Impact at Glasgow Film

This project will begin to research the parameters and potential priorities for a future large-scale archive, heritage and cultural impact project.   

The future project might include some or all of the following themes: 

  • The cultural impact of the cinema prorgamme at Glasgow Film Theater on the wider arts sector in Glasgow/Scotland 
  • Community outreach and cinema heritage activities 
  • The potential of a permanent physical or digital archive of GFTs programme and projects over the last 50 years 
  • The architectural heritage of GFTs listed building.  

Outputs

To produce a report that:  

  • Summarises the scope, impact and materials gathered during recent archive and heritage outreach projects that have been undertaken by Glasgow Film Theatre and Glasgow Film Festival.  
  • Describes the existing archive materials we and other stakeholders have and; assesses the future archive materials and assets that could be made available.   
  • Summarises feedback from interviews with staff, volunteers, audiences, stakeholders and partners on the potential scope and impacts of a future permanent GFT archive and programme of heritage activities. 
  • Suggests a series of recommendations (highlighting opportunities and challenges) for a future large scale GFT archive and heritage project.  

Timescale

Flexible on start date but suggest a single block of 12 weeks  

End date (or must end by):  End of May 2024
