About this Session

From Twitter to TikTok, the range of platforms for influencing others is ever growing. The ever-expanding range of platforms provides a great opportunity for researchers to engage non-specialist audiences with their areas of research. In this workshop we will hear from doctoral students who attended a training day earlier in the year where they explored a platforms that can be used to create content for non-specialist audiences. This workshop will feature a “show-and-tell” where those who attended the earlier course will showcase their digital creations and reflect on what they learned in the process. Participants will learn from each other and create an action plan for how they might develop their content creation and personal brand as a researcher.

Learning Outcomes

By the end, participants will:

  • Understand the range of digital platforms that can be used to engage global audiences with research
  • Reflect on their own research and how they might create content to share their research with wider audiences
  • Create an action plan for how they will develop their content creation skills and enhance their digital presence.

Who might be interested?

This session will be of interest to doctoral students at any stage of their PhD studies who are interested in content creation, digital platforms and/or sharing their research with non-specialist audiences.
