An exciting opportunity has arisen for doctoral researchers to support the delivery of an innovative AHRC-funded training event through the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities. ‘Policy Stories’ will take place in November 2015 & we are looking for two Graduate Administrative Assistants (Grade 6) to help make it happen.

Job Purpose
To effectively & efficiently undertake a range of duties associated with the planning, delivery & evaluation of the AHRC Public Policy training ‘Policy Stories’ as requested by the Director of SGSAH.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for doctoral researchers to support the delivery of an innovative AHRC-funded training event through the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities. ‘Policy Stories’ will take place in November 2015 & we are looking for two Graduate Administrative Assistants (Grade 6) to help make it happen.

Work will be varied & interesting, including the creation of short films, online & other training materials & event management. Training will be provided where necessary. The successful candidates will be engaged & enthusiastic self-starters, ready to commit the equivalent of 6 hours per week over a five to six month period.


Any doctoral researcher registered at a Scottish HEI is eligible to apply & we particularly encourage applications from students who are not in receipt of full funding.

Salary will be on the Management, Professional & Administrative Grade, level 6, £27,057 - £30,4347 per annum, pro rata to 6 hours per week.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. To support the Director of SGSAH in the planning, delivery and evaluation of ‘Policy Stories’
2. To create web and other digital media materials and keep such materials up to date
3. To organise and record meetings with colleagues from other institutions across Scotland
4. To liaise with other HEIs across Scotland, in the planning and delivery of a programme of public policy training
5. To act as a point of contact and source of support for PGR students applying to, and registering on, the ‘Policy Stories’ programme
6. To undertake post-project evaluation and analysis


Knowledge/Qualifications
A1 Good first degree in an Arts or Humanities subject
A2 Completed Masters degree in an Arts or Humanities subject
A3 English Language competency of IELTS 7 (average) with no subset less than 7.

C2 Knowledge of digital media resources & platforms (e.g. blogging, websites, digital films, film & audio editing, audio recording & editing)
