An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the world’s first national graduate school for the arts & humanities as Director. This role is responsible to the Dean of the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities (SGSAH) and to the SGSAH Executive for the operational leadership and management of the SGSAH, a world-leading and sustainable organisation supporting postgraduate research education across Scotland.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing policy in the area of postgraduate research education, and initiating, planning and delivering the projects of the SGSAH. You would also act as the key liaison point between and among the SGSAH’s Higher Education Institution (HEI) members, its industry partners, its funders and other stakeholders and hold overall accountability for the management of major infrastructure funding and studentship awards operated by the SGSAH.

We are looking for someone with significant experience of operational management who is able to provide the leadership, management and development of a high quality, responsive, trusted, efficient and effective service to internal and external clients.

This position is open ended, with the current funding package running to March 31 2019. SGSAH is currently engaged in the process of developing funding applications to be submitted to the SFC and AHRC by October 2017, with the aim of securing the next funding package for the national Scottish consortium (2019 – 2023).

Salary will be on the Management, Professional and Administrative Grade, level 9, £49,772- £55,998 per annum.

There is a possibility for consideration of a secondment opportunity for the duration of the current funding term (31 March 2019). Arrangements regarding any continuation of the secondment beyond that date would be subject to further discussion and funding
