Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities

Host organisation: Creatives of Colour

Project title: Creatives of Colour Festival 2027 Internship

Project description

Creatives of Colour Festival is an annual showcase of artists of colour in Glasgow, which celebrates our collective identity as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), as well as the intersectionality and diversity of our stories, cultures, and art forms. The Festival takes a “by us, for us” approach to offer a range of creative events including performances of music, poetry, and theatre, as well as screenings, panels, and workshops which centre the voices, experiences, and creativity of people of colour in Glasgow. The Festival is supported by the School of Culture & Creative Arts and the Ferguson Bequest at the University of Glasgow. The Festival bridges the gap between academia and the public, with the entire Festival taking place off-campus, supporting local venues, community spaces, and our arts ecosystem in Glasgow.

This internship will join the Creatives of Colour team to support the successful design, delivery, and evaluation of the fourth Creatives of Colour Festival, which will take place May 6-9, 2027 in Glasgow. The project provides the opportunity to gain experience in the planning and execution of an annual festival which sits at the intersection of the arts, higher education, and anti-racism. There are a number of areas of Festival delivery the intern can contribute to, depending on their research interests, skills, and development needs.

PLEASE NOTE: This internship requires in-person availability in Glasgow for the Creatives of Colour Festival, which will take place May 6-9, 2027.

Outputs

The research intern will work across the design and delivery of Creatives of Colour Festival 2027, depending on their interests and skills needs, which will be discussed with the successful candidate.

In person/remote/hybrid

Hybrid.

The internship will be hybrid, with the majority of the work being able to be undertaken remotely. An in-person desk-space will available at the University of Glasgow.

Benefits to the researcher
