My research interest is in the field of relations between Chinese & foreigners, mainly during Treaty Port Era. It includes: history of Shanghai & Harbin, propaganda & cartoons, anti-foreign sentiment & opium trade.

Chinese Studies, British Empire Studies, Popular Culture Studies, Economic History, Semiotics.
