Law Discipline+ Catalyst

Past Events

Would you like to dedicate time to write, develop your writing community, and learn how to run a writing group?

We are pleased to announce that Dr Laura Premack of WriteClub Coaching will be offering two writing workshops for the SGSAH PhD student community in June. Each two-hour workshop will offer structured writing time, group discussion, and a model of how to facilitate a process-based writing group.

This workshop aims to introduce PGR students to a range of methodological options available for the critical study of law.

  • Empirical data in legal research—practical and ethical issues

The workshop will provide students with an overview of the way in which empirical research skills can fit within legal scholarship; an introduction to empirical research tools that can be useful in this context; a space to find out and discuss ethical questions concerning the gathering of empirical data, their analysis and incorporation in legal research, and an opportunity to hear about practical experiences from academics who have engaged in this type of research.
