About me/my research:

I am a PhD candidate based in the University of Stirling & funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council & the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities. I also serve as a teaching assistant & currently teach undergraduate journalism courses. I have previously been involved in research projects with the Glasgow 2014 cultural programme & helped my Master degree supervisor, Professor Richard Haynes, with archival research for his exhibition ‘Hosts & Champions’.

My PhD thesis will focus on the political & marketing changes in the Scottish press in the post-WWII period based on materials from the Scottish Newspaper Society Archive. The archival research will be complemented by interviews with the current & former directors of the SNS which will form an oral history preserving the memories of those who worked to promote the interests of the Scottish press industry. On the project I will be working with the current director of the Scottish Newspaper Society & former editor-in-chief of Scotsman Publications, John McLellan. I will be supervised by Dr Marina Dekavalla & Professor Richard Haynes from Communications, Media & Culture in the University of Stirling. At the end of my project, I plan to organize a mobile exhibition based on the findings of my research.

My long-term interest is performance & organization of the Higher Education sector. I expect that by completion of my doctoral research, I will have the grounding to become a successful academic who will influence policy-making & cultural exchange in the future.
