Welcome to the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities

We are the world's first national graduate school in the Arts & Humanities. Our membership includes sixteen Scottish universities, from the oldest to the newest & including our four art schools & national conservatoire.  We cover Scotland’s geography from the Highlands & Islands to the Scottish Borders, & we work with a wide range of supporters from the arts, culture, creative & heritage sectors. We incorporate the AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership for Scotland.

Although we are rooted in Scotland our research & our researchers have global reach. We welcome the many contributions made to our culture & society by every doctoral researcher in across our member HEIs, & we support positive connections & productive networks locally, regionally & globally.

We are funded by the Scottish Funding Council & the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) as well as our member HEIs.

Our mission is to work together to inspire researchers who are capable, caring, ethical & reflective professionals with a demonstrable commitment to generating & mobilising knowledge across a range of scholarly, professional & public communities. By sharing expertise, best practice, resources & training we will set the standards for & raise the expectations of the postgraduate researcher experience across Scotland.
