This event will be facilitated by academics from the University of Strathclyde, the University of Stirling and The Glasgow School of Art. To benefit research students in all HEIs in Scotland, one place will be reserved for each HEI on a first-come, first-served basis. Any reserved places that are not taken up by any HEI by the deadline, will be allocated to other applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that this event is only for first and second year returning and practice based PGRs. If you do not fall into this category, please do not apply.

The retreat aims to

  • Instil a positive attitude towards writing at an early stage of their research.
  • Target PGRs students who are returning to the academy after some period in practice who may need additional support in developing academic writing.
  • Promote the importance of wellbeing and self-care amongst PGRs at an early stage by encouraging time for breaks, recreation and movement.
  • The retreat is designed to deliver a cross-institutional and interdisciplinary platform to promote the development of opportunities for ongoing peer support and sustainable networks amongst SGSAH PGR students in the development of their academic writing.

Venue: The University of Stirling offers the perfect setting for such a retreat with the benefits of a beautiful campus, sports and recreational facilities which will be available to participants as well as on-site accommodation and catering providing both convenience and the opportunity to leave day-to-day stresses behind.
