This year we are again running our successful collaborative SGSAH and SGSSS Black History Month Programme. 

We would like to now invite you to send us titles and abstracts for short (10-15 minutes) presentations by 15th September 2025. These should be sent to anindya.raychaudhuri@glasgow.ac.uk.

These presentations will be held online, over two dates: 2-3.30pm on 17th and 24th October.

The presentations will be aimed at a general audience and should therefore be as accessible as possible, and we welcome ideas from across the arts, humanities and social sciences PhD communities.

Possible themes could include:

  • Race and Racism in Scotland
  • Legacies of Slavery
  • Black Lives Matter
  • Decolonising the University
  • Celebrating Black Experiences and Culture

This list is not exhaustive and we are interested in featuring as wide a range of experience and expertise as possible. If you have an idea, or any questions, please let us know.
