The University of the Highlands and Islands is the United Kingdom’s leading integrated university encompassing both further and higher education. To support their work they are recruiting for a Research Support Officer within the university’s executive office, located in Inverness.

The Graduate School Office within UHI Executive Office, has responsibility for maintaining and developing high quality postgraduate delivery and student experience across the UHI partnership. The Graduate School is looking for a highly capable and enthusiastic individual to join their team as the Research Support Officer.  The post holder will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Graduate School Office team and their activities and to work with the Dean of Research in the broader development of support for postgraduate research students, supervisors and Early Career Researchers.

The successful candidate should be a capable administrator, with some managerial experience in an Higher Education Institution and ideally in a Graduate School/Postgraduate Research student context, should possess strong IT skills (databases, spread sheets, word processing and, ideally, web pages) and be capable of delivering work to a high standard without direct supervision for much of the time. Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential. In addition, working knowledge of the SITS data management system would be a distinct advantage, particularly in the postgraduate (research) context.

This post will be based in the Research and Graduate School Office in Inverness.
