Two very special new residency opportunities for PhD doctoral researchers at SGSAH member HEIs.

SGSAH Thinker-in-Residence at Deveron Arts

Deveron Arts is a dynamic arts organisation with a focus on socially engaged arts practices. It also runs the Walking Institute which explores, researches & celebrates the human pace by bringing walking & other journeying activities together with arts & other cultural disciplines & people from all walks of life.  Based in the small rural Aberdeenshire town of Huntly, Deveron Arts’ philosophy is that ‘the town is the venue’.

This three-week residency offers a PhD researcher in any arts & humanities discipline accommodation in Huntly 29 February-19 March 2016, giving focused time & space to think around a specific subject related to your PhD project, and to present your thinking at the end of the time to the Deveron Arts’ team.

SGSAH Artist’s Residency at The Bothy Project

The Bothy Project’s objective is to create platforms for artists to journey & explore the peculiarities of the history, mythology, landscape & people in the areas surrounding the bothies.

This one-week residency is open to practice-based PhDs across the creative arts & offers the chance to spend a week at Sweeney’s Bothy on the Isle of Eigg, 12-19 March 2016. You will be expected to undertake some specified & focused research & development work, linking the specificities of the place/site/environment/experience of the location to your PhD project.

These residencies are open to PhD researchers in Arts & Humanities at SGSAH member HEIs who are in their 2nd year or above (FTE). You don’t have to be funded through SGSAH to apply. We will give priority to researchers who have not previously undertaken a SGSAH internship/artist-residency.
