Loans for Doctoral Study 2018-2019
Issued: Thu, 22 Feb 2018 10:40:00 GMT
The UK Government has released details of its doctoral loan scheme for students starting their PhD in 2018-2019. Loans up to £25 000 are available for Doctoral Study for UK nationals and those with settled status for prospective doctoral researchers normally resident in England.
Eligible students must be ‘ordinarily resident’ in England and under 60 years of age on the first day of the degree programme. The loans can be used for fees and living costs to study at any university in the UK on a PhD programme lasting between 3 and 8 years, including universities and higher education institutions in Scotland.
Doctoral students in receipt of Research Council funding or who already have an equivalent qualification are ineligible to apply.
Information provided here is for guidance only. Please check Student Finance England website for further information about eligibility and applying for a loan.
We are seeking advice from the Scottish Funding Council for those ordinarily resident in Scotland.
